The Angst of Almost

Like a breath I entered your chest
Unnoticed, the next moment I left
My desire to know you from within, bereft
Ah, the angst of almost!

Two flowers in a bed, we rose with the Sun,
Till time came to pluck the better one. Left in mud,
My desire to be garland with you, bereft
Ah, the angst of almost!

In a crowded place our eyes met, in recognition,
Lived a lifetime in two seconds, till you looked away
My desire to live and die in your eyes, bereft,
Ah, the angst of almost!

My dreams came true the day I met you,
Cut out my heart, offered it, bleeding, trembling
You put your arm right through invisible me, oblivious
Ah, the angst of almost!

Confluence

You've steered your meandering life
With soulful purpose to meet mine
Amidst an ocean of strangers, oh
How our fates have intertwined!

Standing here looking at each other
Unmistakable recognition in our eyes
Do you doubt, have fear in heart,
Of whether it's true, or even wise?

Have faith, it's not a dream nor illusion
Open your eyes, if it may seem surreal
Listen to the beats you feel in your heart
Music's pure, beats don't lie, it's for real

Been many a place, met many a kind
Searching for the one, found a few like you
Not you, 'like you' is all they have been,
They left, perhaps they knew I'd meet you

Let me in behind the mystic of your eyes
I yearn to know what makes you, you
Tell me all the stories of your voyages
Tell, you know our confluence is overdue.

Phenomenal Woman

(With apologies to Maya Angelou)

Girlish charms hide her lioness heart
Her easy ways her infinite struggles
A woman of style, oh,  she's resolute
She's a phenomenal woman

She talks business with ease,
As comfortable she's with poetry,
She travels the world alone, passionate
She's a phenomenal woman

Sincere in action, honest to her word,
Caring of people, but not a care for rules
She loves truly; loves, lives and laughs fully
She's a phenomenal woman

She can disarm you with her words
She can drown you in her thoughts
Enamoured by her stories, I just sit, listen
She's a phenomenal woman

Self respecting, self reliant, dependable,
Spoilt in her love for food, a charming host
She thinks deep, talks wise; she's substantial!
She's a phenomenal woman

She stirs passions, awakens imaginations,
Silent beauty, she strides in confidence  ,
Diamond like in many ways, yet so fragile
She's a phenomenal woman

Please, oh please, my phenomenal woman.

Dissolve Me

What joy! I found you...
You, who I've been looking for,
Have appeared unexpectedly,
Patiently, I have waited for you.

With your words you concocted a wine
I am drunk, In a way that
I just want to drown over and over
Until I am the drink you made for me

You've struck music in my being
Every strand of me resonates,
Like blissful blades of grass
Upon kiss of the morning ray

Now, I am and, now, I am not
I am inside me and outside me
Before me is a rosy mist I want dissolve in,
Beyond the mist is you

Dissolve me unto you, fully,
Like two shadows that merge
Dissolve me until I am not me
Dissolve me until I become me, again.

Magnificence

As I listen to the words you use
To describe your feeling
        I feel too
       At the exact moment,
To express the idea brushing past
       my mind, too, just then
I shudder at the familiarity of you.
The magnificence of these
Coincidences of our minds is such
It opens up in me the doors
        I shut long ago
It awakens the parts of my soul
I put to sleep for good.
I feel like
A dying river in first rain
A baked mountain in snowstorm
The only thing that is left is
Absolute submission to
The torrent of joy
about to follow.
Then, I am yours.
Such is the scary magnificence of
Your presence.
